Hardline Former Congressman J.A. Kast Elected as Chile Next President.

In a decisive final ballot, far-right candidate José Antonio Kast has secured the presidential office in Chile.

A Clear-Cut Triumph

With more than 99% of ballots counted, Kast garnered 58.17% of the vote, beating leftist former minister Jeannette Jara, who obtained 41.83%.

This signifies Kast's third bid for the presidency, having previously been beaten by the sitting president, Gabriel Boric, in the 2021 runoff.
