The East African nation Welcomes Historic Items Following a Century Holding in Germany

Around 12 ancient items were officially restored to the Ethiopian nation after remaining by a household from Germany for in excess of a century.

These artefacts, initially collected in the 1920's by Germany's then-envoy to the Ethiopian empire a German envoy and his spouse his partner, were transferred on Wednesday to the research center at Addis Ababa University.

The assortment included crowns, protective shields and artistic works, all considered as culturally important in Ethiopia.

"These artefacts continue to stand as a symbol of the enduring and friendly connection between the German nation and Ethiopia," remarked the German diplomat, Germany's representative to the East African country.

Dr. a professor, whose father was delivered during the family's diplomatic posting in Ethiopia, delivered the objects at a gathering joined by Tourism Minister Selamawit Kassa.

He explained that the household's intention to give back the treasures was to "showcase their splendor with the people and preserve the culture and past linked to my parent's beginning."

These artefacts were either donations or acquisitions, based on the household.

"We would like to express gratitude to the Weiss relatives for actively demonstrating their sincere affection for the nation by diligently preserving these treasures and importantly ensuring their return to their legitimate nation," stated the minister of tourism.

She noted that the pieces would shortly be made accessible to the general audience for study and scholarly work, terming the decision a milestone in preserving the nation's historical legacy.

"Efforts are ongoing to repatriate ancient items that are found in the hands of individuals and institutions around the world," the minister stated.

During imperial control in the African continent, thousands of historical objects were looted.

The demand by African countries for the restoration of taken objects has been answered with some progress in lately - even if some items are merely on temporary return.

Back in the year 2022, Germany was the initial nation to give back some of the well-known historical items to the Nigerian people in a bid to confront its "troubled past."
